Dandelion is a hardy perennial with bright yellow flowers and can grow up to approximately 30 cm high. It is highly adaptable and can thrive in a wide range of conditions.
Season: Late Summer / Early Winter onwards
Soil: Adaptable to most soil types; prefers reasonably well-drained soil
Watering: Water regularly while establishing; relatively drought tolerant once established
Position: Full Sun to Part Shade
Fertilising: Compost, Manure or Liquid Feed
Use: Young leaves can be eaten fresh in salads and sandwiches or cooked as a leafy vegetable. Flowers are edible and can be used fresh. Roots can be harvested, dried, roasted and ground as a traditional caffeine-free coffee alternative.
