White Sage is a beautiful, aromatic evergreen shrub native to Southern California and Baja California. It has a long history of traditional use by Indigenous peoples of the region and is particularly well known for its aromatic leaves and traditional ceremonial and cultural uses. Soil: Very well-drained, sandy or rocky soil
Watering: Water regularly while establishing. Once established, allow soil to dry between watering.
Position: Full Sun
Fertilising: Light feeder; compost sparingly
Use: Aromatic leaves have a long history of traditional cultural and ceremonial use. The dried foliage is also valued for its distinctive fragrance. Best grown as an ornamental and aromatic garden plant.
White Sage prefers warm, dry conditions and excellent drainage. Avoid heavy, consistently wet soils and overwatering. Allow plenty of room for the plant to develop into a rounded shrub. Particularly well suited to pots, Mediterranean gardens, dry gardens and other low-water plantings.
Pairs well with Lavender, Rosemary, Thyme, Sage and other Mediterranean or drought-tolerant plants.
